Just last month, my friend and fellow improviser, Sarah Jenkins, and I created our own improv show at The Skinny Improv in Springfield, MO. It is called Tyler and Sarah’s “Use Your Words,” and it is an improv show entirely based around books, stories, language, and other nerdy things like that. The first show (or as well call it, “Chapter 1: It was the Best of Shows, it was the Worst of Shows”) was a fun and experimental little shindig, and we are hoping to grow our audience and figure out what is the funniest book-things possible we can do. And I think we are on the right track.
Tomorrow (Thursday, May 5th, 2011) is our next show at The Skinny Improv Comedy Theatre, at 7:30 PM. This show is special because it is a fundraiser so that we can buy a new air conditioning unit, which we are going to need badly in a month or less. The cost of a ticket is a cheap and reasonable $5 for this show. It is family-friendly, and really nerd-friendly, though you don’t need to know much about books to enjoy this show. And I’m not just saying that.
Want clips? Well, here is something to tease you just a little…
Sarah and I are trying to make this show a successful once-a-month show, so come out and help us do that!
PS-Our real sponsors are 5 Pound Apparel, a nifty clothing store in downtown Springfield, that donates all kinds of cool and pragmatic things to people who need them, with every purchase.
